Busy Day
August 18, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceBack from my break!
August 17, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceWell, I’m back from my blogging vacation. Even though I wasn’t blogging, I certainly was crocheting! I made a huge stash busting shawl. In fact, I probably should have made it smaller but I will enjoy it when the weather gets cooler. I used Caron Simply Soft in Red and Black. I’m not sure how many skeins of each I used, but it was all from my stash.
On a business front, I have decided to switch to Peaches & Creme yarn for my dishcloths. As I use another brand’s color up, I will not replace it. I can order directly from Peaches & Creme and have it sent directly to my house. I don’t have a good bulk source for other brands. It will be a long time before I’m totally switched over and I will mark each discontinued color as I it crocheted into dishcloths.
Out of the Habit
August 6, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceIt’s funny how easy it is to get out of the habit of blogging. A couple of weeks ago I forgot to post one day and then decided to take a blogging vacation. It was supposed to be for 1 week but it’s been 3 weeks now.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Mommy’s Marketplace. The original purpose was for it to be a way for me to contribute to the household budget while staying at home. Unfortunately, it’s not always turned out that way. A couple of years ago, I decided to focus on my handmade items. That is harder than you realize and it takes a lot of time to build up customers. I have had some success with my dishcloths and the pattern I designed.
So, I’ve decided to keep the dishcloths and add some other new, handmade items. I’m not going to share what they will be yet but they will appeal to people who knit and crochet. So, check back to see what’s new.
Possible jury duty
July 14, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceI got a summons for jury duty. Fortunatley, I did not have to report today. However, I was supposed to call and see if I need to report for tomorrow. However, the line has been busy each time I have called. I’m not sure what to do.
Wonderful Visit
July 13, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceWe had a wonderful visit with Linda. She went home today.
I made some progress on my Adamas shawl. I’m almost done with the 9th repeat.
I’m hoping to get back in the swing of things tomorrow.
Tired day
July 10, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceI’ve been tired all day today. So I haven’t made much knitting progress. I did finish my sock for the 3rd time and I think 3s a charm. I’m very pleased with the look and fit of the ribbing.
Have a great weekend.
Linda is here!
July 9, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceMy daughter Linda is here. I’m so excited to spend some time with her.
Knitting wise, I’ve been working on the Adamas shawl this afternoon and making slow but steady progress.
Linda’s coming!
July 8, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceI’m so excited, my daughter Linda is coming for a visit tonight. She’ll be here until Sunday evening. I can’t wait until she gets here!
Negative progress
July 8, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceI picked up the Adamas shawl last night. It had been in a time out due to some mistakes I had made. I ended up frogging the 6th repeat. So I made negative progress on it. Hopefully today, I will be able to make it up.
I live in the beautiful mountain community of Crestline, California. I love it up here. When we moved here, we were looking forward to the cooler air and getting away from Phoenix. Well, last summer and now this summer it has gotten into the 90s. In the house we live in, it wouldn’t be too bad if there were a breeze. Unfortunately, it’s been very still. The owner of the house left a window air conditioner in the garage. With the help of my neighbor Scott, it is in the window and putting out cool air! Ahhhhh!
Thank you Scott!!!
My daughter Linda might be coming to visit this weekend!
Kind of a finished sock
July 7, 2008 by mommysmarketplaceWell, yesterday I wrote that I have a picture of a completed sock to post. And I do. However, after I wrote that, I decided that the ribbing/bind off was too tight. I then frogged the ribbing, added some increases, and am re-knitting it. The problem with the ribbing was a I decided to do twisted ribbing. I really like the effect and think it will hold up better. However, it is tighter and that created my problems. So, instead of suffering and being unhappy with it, I decided to fix it.
