Last day of school!

June 19, 2008 by mommysmarketplace

Today was Tyler’s last day of school. We are looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.

Today, I worked on the insurance list. I also knit another repeat on my shawl, finished a sock, and started a secret project!

Have a great weekend!

Success!

June 19, 2008 by mommysmarketplace

This week I’ve been working on my first lace project, the
Adamas Shawl
. It is a wonderful first project. However, it seemed like all week I was working on the same repeat, only to have to frog it and start over. I finally got past the second repeat and did the third!!! I’m using Malabrigo Lace yarn in the shadow blue colorway. I am very pleased so far.

Today, my son Tyler, had field day at school. He came home with a tattoo!

Fortunately, it was marker so it will fade away.

Tomorrow is his last day of school. He’ll have a few days off and then start summer school.

Then I hope this will be sufficient for tonight.

Lace Woes

June 16, 2008 by mommysmarketplace

I am knitting my first lace shawl. It is lovely and knitting lace is very addicting. Unfortunately, it seems like I have to knit each section at least twice to get it to turn out right. I worked on it for hours today and I didn’t make any progress :( However, I am going to stick to it and finish this shawl.

I have a big project that I’m working on this week. I hope that I can get it done quickly.

Happy Father’s Day

June 15, 2008 by mommysmarketplace

This weekend, for Father’s Day, my husband went to some motorcycle races on Saturday. Today, he went for a long motorcycle ride with friends and then they ended up here for dinner. He doesn’t do stuff like this very much so I’m glad that he went and had a good time.

Happy Father’s Day Matt!

New yarn!

June 12, 2008 by mommysmarketplace

Even though I’ve ordered a bunch of yarn lately, I made a trip today to the yarn shop. I got some yummy Malabrigo lace yarn and started on the Adamas shawl. I am very pleased so far.

I will post pictures and links on Sunday.

Frogging

June 11, 2008 by mommysmarketplace

Today I went through my projects and frogged some. I decided that I would not knit with lace weight alpaca for a while as it is too hard to frog. So, I frogged my Faux Spanish Lace shawl. I also frogged my Eva shawl. I decided not to crochet with lace weight yarn for now. It’s too tedious.

I bought a bunch of sock yarn today and placed an order with Knitpicks. So I should have some new yummy yarn soon.

19 years!

June 10, 2008 by mommysmarketplace

Today my husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary. He took the day off work and we had fun. First we went on a ride on the Arrowhead Queen. It was a lot of fun. Then we had lunch at the Belgian Waffle Works. The food was delicious. After that we went to Jensen’s to pick out dinner. We had the best filet mignon. Jensen’s has the best meat!

We had a wonderful day.

Monday Blues

June 9, 2008 by mommysmarketplace

I had a lazy day today. I really did not feel like doing much. So, I crocheted on my doily and made good progress:

I also started a new crochet shawl:

I needed another project like I needed a hole in the head, but I felt like starting it.

Tomorrow my husband and I are celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary. He is taking the day off work and we are going out to lunch. It should be a lot of fun.

This and That!

Well, I finished a couple of things this weekend. I finished the shawl for my secret sister and gave it to her at the revealing party on Saturday. She loved it. I enjoy making things for other people when they appreciate it and she really did. I got some pictures:

I also finished my first pair of fingering weight socks:

I started another pair:

I’m using some Sockotta yarn that I had bought last year. It’s a cotton, wool, nylon blend. So far, I’m very pleased.

On the doily front, I discovered a big mistake and had to frog it quite a ways back:

I am determined to learn to crochet doilies so I’m not letting it get me down.
