More of the same!

May 29, 2008

I’ve worked on the shoulder shawl that I started yesterday. It is moving along quickly. I’m thinking that 1 skein should do the trick.

I went to Lake Arrowhead today to pick up a package. It is beautiful up here and I love driving through the mountains.

I also went for a walk. I’m trying to start walking every day, at least during the week. I think that I will feel much better.

Have a great weekend. Hopefully I will have the shawl done by Sunday and I will post a picture then.

New Project!

May 28, 2008

I think I have a case of startitis. However, as long as I finish all my projects eventually, what’s the harm? Today I started a mini shawl for a friend at church. She had asked me about it a while back but I haven’t seen her. Today, I found some Red Heart Light and Lofty yarn and thought that it would be perfect and work up quickly. I don’t think that I would have bought it but I saw a swatch of it and really liked it. She has a pinched nerve in her shoulder and needs something to help keep warm in the cooler weather. I’m hoping to have it done by Sunday so I can give it to her at church.

Yarn sale!

May 27, 2008

I’ve decided to go through my yarn stash and get rid of the yarn the I don’t like or have any plans to use. I will list it on ebay tomorrow so check mommys_marketplace for some great deals.

I had to go down the hill to pick up a prescription so I haven’t got much knitting done. I did work on my sock while I was waiting. I turned the heel on the sock last night so the end is in sight.

Relaxing Monday!

May 26, 2008

Today was a nice relaxing day. I did a lot of laundry and some knitting. I’m making good progress on my shawl and I’m doing the increases for the gusset on the heel of the sock.

Since I’ve been knitting, I try to keep things simple. I knit my socks toe up and the gusset heel works best for me. One issue of knitting socks, is holes in the heel area. Some people suggest picking up an extra stitch between needles but that is too much work for me. I’ve discovered a much easier way to prevent heel holes right here: Fleegle No Hole Heel. This is the easiest heel I’ve been able to find. I work my socks on 2 circulars and it is perfect for that.

Holiday Weekend!

May 25, 2008

It has been a nice holiday weekend. On Friday, we all went to see Iron Man and then out for pizza. We had a great time and I really enjoyed the movie.

On Saturday, Linda and Chris went home. They had a safe journey and their puppy, Thor, was very happy to see them. I miss them.

I started a Weavers Wool Mini Shawl today in Paton’s merino in the new denim colorwary. It is working up quickly. I’m really pleased with it.

This weekend has been cold! Last weekend it was in the 90s and this weekend in the 40s. It even snowed on Friday. Here are some pictures:

Here are some pictures of the kids:

Relaxing Day

May 22, 2008

I had a nice relaxing day today. I watched Charmed with Linda and Chris and worked on one of my shawls. I will post pictures on Sunday.

Have a great weekend!

Shawl Love!

May 21, 2008

I am feeling the shawl love. I currently have 3 different shawls on the hook and needles. I live in Southern California in the mountains. It does get cold in the winter but there were also a lot of days in the 50’s and 60’s. I’m also over 40 so my body temperature seems to have risen. So, I’ve been reluctant to knit a sweater as I’m afraid that I wouldn’t wear it much. A shawl seems to be the perfect answer. I love wrapping up in a shawl. I feel warm and snuggly. So, I’m thinking this summer will be the summer of socks and shawls.

Last night, I wore my Clapotis. It went perfectly with my top and it kept me warm. I took some pictures:

And I managed to get one of Linda while she was cooking dinner:

Linda & Chris are here!

May 20, 2008

My daughter Linda and her boyfriend Chris arrived today. They are staying until Saturday. I’m enjoying having them here.

I didn’t get much knitting or crocheting done today. I worked a little on my sock, a little on my crochet shawl, and a little on a dish cloth shawl that I’m making.

Tomorrow I will post pictures!

Monday, Monday!

May 19, 2008

Today was a pretty quiet day. I worked on clearing my desk a little and now it’s worse than before. I also started on a monumental task of reconciling an insurance list with receipts. I think that’s going to take me a while.

As a reward, I started a crochet shawl. The shawl is Eva’s Shawl . I’ve had my eye on this one for a while and finally decided to start it. I’m using lavender lace weight wool/nylon blend with a size 2.75mm steel hook. I tried an aluminum hook but the steel one worked better. I probably didn’t need to start another project but I really, really wanted to.

The pattern was written with British crochet terms but she put a glossary at the beginning of the pattern so it wasn’t difficult.

Tomorrow, my daughter Linda and her boyfriend Chris are coming for a visit! They will be here until Saturday.

Lazy Sunday

May 18, 2008

Today was a lazy Sunday. I did some knitting and took a nap. Pretty quiet.

I finished my first sock:

I cast on for #2:

I also worked on my lace shawl. I ended up frogging it since the last picture, restarting it, and this time putting lifelines in. Believe me, I’ve learned my lesson.

Question of the day: “Mom, do you know where my you know what is?”
