New day, new design

April 30, 2008

As I reported last night, I finished all of the hats. They are packaged up and ready to go :) Here are pictures:

I finally got around to photographing and listing my newest dishcloth color:

And finally, I started on a new crochet design today :)

I’m Done!!!!!

April 29, 2008

I finished all 12 of the hats. I’m glad to have them all finished. All I have to do is package them up and deliver them. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Next, I’m going to finish knitting the baby blanket. Hopefully I can finish it by the weekend.

I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed by all my projects. When that happens, I pick one and work on it until it’s finished. That’s what I’m doing with the baby blanket.

10 down, 2 to go!

April 28, 2008

I am almost finished with the hats!!! I only have 2 more to crochet. I’m getting a little tired of them. I did get a little break today. I sold a dishcloth that I didn’t have already made so I took some time to make it. My goal is to have the hats done by tomorrow :)

My mother in law sent me some pictures from their visit:

Nice Weekend!

April 27, 2008

We had a really nice, quiet weekend. I was able to work on the hats and also a baby blanket that I’m knitting for my husband’s co-worker. I’ve made good progress with the hats and am almost done with the blue ones. After that I have 4 lavender ones to make and I will be done :)

I’m also excited to announce that my first pattern has been listed on You can make this. The direct link to the pattern is here: Girl’s Ruffled Shrug. This is a great site and I’m very excited to have my pattern there. I’m also looking forward to designing more!

I finished my black slippers:

Here’s one of the blue hats:

It will also have a cream pompom on it!

Slippers

April 24, 2008

I am on a knitting slippers kick. I finished the first black one and am working on the second. After this I’m going to make a pair out of Wool-Ease wood colorway. I think I’m getting a little obsessed. It’s just they’re so quick, easy , and comfortable that I can’t help myself. I will post a picture on Sunday.

Warm feet and heads

April 23, 2008

Well, I finished my slippers last night and I love them. In fact, I love them so much, that I think that I’ll be making several more pairs. I cast on this morning for a pair in black. I’m not very far along on them but plan to get some knitting done tonight. The only bad thing about pink slippers is that they show the dirt. However, they are washable. My plan is to make several pairs in a variety of colors.

I also worked on the hats today. I finished all the pink ones including the pompoms. I have this cool pompom maker which helps. Tomorrow I will start the blue. I don’t think that I’ll get them done this week but should be able to by early next week.

Out of sorts and cold feet

April 22, 2008

I have felt out of sorts all day today. I haven’t felt like doing anything other than knitting and watching tv. Since my son had a half day today, I caved in to my feelings and knit all afternoon while watching episodes of Charmed on dvd.

What did I knit? Well, I didn’t work on the hats. Last night while I was crocheting, my feet were very cold. So I decided to knit myself some slippers. I found this pattern: Ridiculously easy mary janes . I’ve got the first one done and am working on the second one. I crocheted 2 rounds of single crochet, decreasing some on the second round. This gives a better fit. The next one I’m going to make a little longer. I also used a worsted weight Wool-ease yarn and added a couple more stitches. Hopefully, these will keep my feet warm at night when I’m knitting upstairs. We don’t have a direct heat source on the second floor so it can get a little cool.

Hats, Hats, and More Hats

April 21, 2008

I got an order for 12 crocheted hats. I have plenty of time but I feel like I’m on a mission to get them done. I’m currently on the 4th one. After I get this one done, I need to sew pompoms on them. Then, I’ll move on to the next color. I need to make 4 pink, 4 blue, and 4 lavender. They will all have cream color pompoms. My goal is to have them done by the end of the week.

The trouble with tribbles

April 20, 2008

One problem with crocheting/knitting dishcloths is that you end up with a lot of leftover cotton yarn. It’s too much to throw away but not enough to really make anything. Until I came across this pattern, The trouble with Tribbles. It uses up that leftover cotton. It’s also fun and easy to make.

String bag

April 17, 2008

I must admit that I have way too many plastic grocery bags.  While, I do try to reuse them (trash can liners, clean the cat box, etc), I still have way too many.  My grocery store sells reusable canvas bags and I see a lot of people using them.  However, my theory is why spend money when I can make something with yarn that I already have.  So today, I have been crocheting a string market bag.  I’m well on my way to being done.  While I’m using a pattern, I really dislike the handles per the pattern.  So, I’m going to change it.  I’ll post a picture when I’m done.
